Family Asteraceae
Originating from N. America
Hot drifts of smouldering, dark orangey red blooms have a fantastic protruding central dome of disc florets. They form a dark brooding purple coloured cone of tightly packed buds, until they begin to open from the bottom upwards, revealing the inner golden yellow colour of the florets. This firework-like display crowns the outer ring of broad, crimped tipped petals in a compact form, capturing the typical prairie character of its taller, swaying relatives, and making it possible to bring their style into smaller gardens. Easy to grow in any free draining soil in full sun.
Height and spread after 1 – 2 years 1m x 50cm.
