Family Poaceae
Originating from USA

A dense, tufted, deciduous grass with narrow, wispy, hair-like leaves and soft, feathery flower panicles in summer. They give movement to a planting scheme, their upright, slightly arching flowers swaying in the slightest breeze and especially effective when planted in a drift. When the sun is low in the sky Stipa tenuissima has a luminous quality and is the most tactile of all grasses – we challenge you not to run your hands through it when in full bloom.
Rake out dead thatch in late winter/early spring.
Grow in well-drained soil in sun.

Mature height and spread after 2 – 3 years 50cm x 50cm
